Adequate treatment must do two things; reduce the pressure caused by poorly functioning valves, and eliminate bulging and unsightly veins.
Truncal Varicose Veins Treatments
The VNUS Closure™ is a clinically proven, minimally invasive procedure that treats varicose veins and their underlying cause, venous reflux, with little or no pain. VNUS Closure™ patients walk away from this procedure and return to everyday activities typically within a day.
Using the revolutionary VNUS Closure™ system, the Board Certified Vascular Surgeons at Veintec close diseased veins by inserting a small catheter into a vein and heating the vein wall using temperature-controlled radio frequency (RF) energy. Heating the vein wall causes collagen in the wall to shrink and the vein to close. After the vein is sealed shut, blood naturally reroutes to healthy veins.
This procedure eliminates the need for groin surgery and general anesthesia. It is performed using local anesthesia in the comfort of Veintec’s state of the art, spa-like treatment center. VNUS Closure™ is minimally invasive, so patients experience little to no scarring.
The VNUS Closure™ procedure provides many benefits for patients suffering from the pain and swelling caused by varicose veins:
Some problems, such as large varicose veins, may call for ligation which is a procedure where the connections between the damaged veins and the normal vein systems are interrupted. Ligation is usually done under local anesthesia in an outpatient setting, often in combination with other procedures. Your initial consultation will give you and your physician an opportunity to discuss which treatment program may be best for you.
Miniphlebectomy is a procedure that can be used on small and large veins In this procedure, tiny pinpoint holes are made with a small needle. Using specialized instruments, segments of the vein can be removed through these openings. The tiny openings heal with nearly invisible scars that are quite cosmetically acceptable. You won’t even have to wear stockings for an extended period of time with this procedure, which is done under local anesthetic with minimal down time.
Since 2001, we have used lasers for ablating large veins. This procedure (LASE) uses laser energy to obliterate the interior portion of the vein. This usually can be completed in the clinic under local anesthesia and minimal discomfort and downtime. Most patients can drive themselves home. Support stockings are usually not needed. Veintec Varicose Vein Clinics have preformed more than 2,500 LASE procedures.
