Spider Vein Treatment
Understand the differences between spider veins and varicose veins.
Spider veins in general do not pose major health risks or complications. They are simply dilated and broken capillaries just under the skin. They have a purple or red appearance and mostly form on the legs. It is not known what causes spider veins, but hormone levels, heredity and injury to the area are known culprits. Spider veins can cause mild discomfort in the form of aching or burning. Luckily spider vein treatment is not as intrusive as most varicose vein treatments.
Varicose veins are much more prominent in appearance and can cause health issues in advanced cases. Varicose veins are generally deeper under the skin and are caused by weakening veins. These veins may bulge out from the skin and should be monitored by a physician. Surgery is sometimes recommended to remove varicose veins.
